Project Return has provided invaluable assistance to young women in crisis since 1986. Following the integration with Hopes with Hope in October 2016 the Project Return house is thriving, with eight young women ages 18-24 currently in residence. These women, homeless before arriving at Project Return, are now living in a safe and caring environment, working toward independent and productive lives. More than 27 of their peers have already progressed through the program to stable housing, and they are doing well with the support that carries on after they leave.
Homes with Hope’s mission is to support the homeless and those at-risk of homelessness in the communities we serve. While more than 70% of our funding comes from the generosity of private individuals and foundations, we are publicly supported by the State of CT and the Towns of Westport, Weston and Wilton. The agency has grown significantly since first opening in 1983 as an organization providing food and shelter for homeless men in a retired Town of Westport firehouse. As the need began to increase, the staff realized that food and shelter alone were not enough to help people move from homelessness to self-reliance. Today, our Continuum of Services includes: case management services; a food pantry and soup kitchen; emergency shelters for single adults, families and young women aged 18 – 24; permanent supportive housing for the chronically homeless; mentoring; youth education and the life skills training needed to prevent homelessness from reoccurring.
